Wedding Cake Design: Piping & Lace Gumpaste | Craftsy Cake Decorating Tutorial

Say “I do” to stress-free wedding cakes! In
this video, I’ll reveal the 5 simple steps to wedding cake success.
Hi, I’m Joshua John Russell, a cake designer and an instructor on Craftsy dot com. Join
along as I show you how to make this elegant wedding cake everyone will love.
After coving the cake in fondant, I am going to use gumpaste and a lace mold to create
my decorations for the cake. First roll the gumpaste into a strip. You want to make sure the paste won’t stick to the mold, so add a little cornstarch to the paste and a little to the mold. Once the lace is made, you need to secure
it to the cake with piping gel. You could use gum glue as well. This is just a mixture
of water and Tylose powder. Now let’s jazz it up a bit. Piping over the
lace is a great way to customize the design. I am using a number 1 tip a little royal icing.
And for the final touches, add a little pearl dust. I am mixing it with vodka and lightly
brushing over the pearls to add a bit of sparkle. There you have it: a beautiful wedding cake
completed in just a few simple steps. Thanks for watching, and don’t forget you
