SOCIAL MEDIA CAKE POPS – NERDY NUMMIES

Hey guys, it’s Ro, welcome to another Nerdy
Nummies! As most of you know, I was in New York recently
to attend the Shorty Awards! It was so much fun and I had to say thank
you guys, because, we won in the category of food! Thanks to
you guys and your support. So thank you, this was really really cool! I’m
gonna put it over here. Oh yeah, next to my little dinos! And they’re like
ooh yeah, ooh yeah! So in honor of social media, I am gonna be
making social media cake pops! With a recipe that my mom gave me! It’s
really good, it’s red velvet cake and cream cheese, it makes your cake pops
a little bit thicker, and they hold their shape a little bit better. So let’s get started! The things you will need, will be: vegetable
oil, pam baking spray, red velvet cake mix, or you can use your favorite
recipe, 1 cup of water, 3 eggs, and 2 sh-ticks of cream cheese, and
these are 8 ounces. A big pan, a big mixing bowl, and electric
beater, or a whisk. Let’s put it all together! UGH! Scissors are good! Then you beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Once your batter is all mixed, we’re going
to grease our pan, I just have a rectangle pan, nothing fancy, it doesn’t
matter what shape or size. Because we’re gonna crumble our cake once
it’s baked. Gotta take some baking spray. OK, so you’re just gonna open this, spray
your pan, get all the corners. And then pour your batter in. Peewwww! Give it a little tap. Now you’re gonna preheat your oven to 350
and bake for 35 minutes! Once your cake is all done baking, take it out
of the oven and make sure it’s had plenty of time to cool before you
do this. And what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna crumb all of the cake
into this bowl. So I’m gonna take a knife, cut the cake
into sections. Like that, and you can get messy, use your
hands. Take the 2 pieces and crumble them, rub them
together and crumble them over the bowl. Crumb, crumb, crumb, crumb! Yeah, well I will just save… I will just
do this. Once you’ve crumbed all of your red velvet
cake into the big bowl, you’re gonna take 2 boxes of cream cheese, they’re
each 8 ounces so thats16 ounces all together. I’ve just pre-opened this
1, and put both of them in there! And you just massage it all together, you
can use your hands, that is fine, it’s probably the best way. Pro tip, I leave
my cream cheese out for awhile so it’s kind of warm. Little warmer,
room temperature when you start to do this, makes it easier to work with. After you’ve massaged the cake for awhile
and all the cream cheese is combined, it will look like this! Ah ya caught me red handed schee! Then you’re gonna take a bunch of this and
a clean cake pan, just pat it down. Once you get all your cake mixture packed
in here, we’re gonna put it in the freezer for about 20 minutes to get very
firm. And then we’re gonna cut our shapes out. This batter is really good for holding shape,
eeeeee! After your cake mixture has had plenty of
time to cool off in the freezer, you’ll take it out, take a big knife, and
cut little squares! So you’re just gonna pick up 1 of the little squares,
and they’re very moldable still, so you can just press ‘em down. Right here
I just have a piece of wax paper that I’m putting them on. And you’re gonna
take a lollipop stick and dip it into melted chocolate, this is just a little
bit of white chocolate melts, dip the tip in there. Oooh, like that! And then stick it right in
the middle. Mewrp! I’m gonna make 8 social media little cake
pops, but you can make as many as you want. And once you’re done making
these, we’re gonna stick them back in the freezer for 20 minutes again. I just took all these little cake pops out
of the freezer, and now we are gonna dip them in different colored
candy chocolates. Just these kind, the little Wilton colored
chocolates. First we’re gonna start with light blue, I just warmed this up in the microwave. Just gonna take your cake pop, put him in there,
work it around. Ta-da! There we go! They’re square-ish,
and that’s what I was going for, just as long as they weren’t round. Aw so cute! And then, I got this piece of
styrofoam, just any shape you want, and then you just stick him right in there so they
can dry. Boop! Ta-da! And then I’m gonna do them all the
colors of all the different little social media pops I want to do! Now that we’ve got all of our cake pops
dipped in the different colors, we are going to decorate, using some frostings
and candies! I’m gonna start with Reddit, with white
frosting. Make the little alien face, with his little
orange eyeballs! Ta-da! We finished all the Social Media Cake Pops,
they look so cute! My favorite is the Reddit 1, oh look at him,
he’s so cute! Instagram is cute too, but, he’s my favorite! Or YouTube, gotta love YouTube! Twitter, Facebook,
Google+, Pintrest and Flikr! Thanks you guys for watching, if you have
any other ideas for any other Nerdy Nummies, please let me know, leave me
a comment down below and I will do my best to make it happen! Also, I will have pictures of all these cute
little cake pops on my new Tumblr. I’ll put a link down below, and
there’s tons of Nerdy Nummies pictures out there that you can go check out. Or, if you want to try making these yourself
and you send me a pic on Facebook or Twitter, or wherever, I will try
to post them on fan baking creations on Tumblr. OK, thanks you
guys! Bye-bye!
