How to make ICING SUGAR – POWDERED SUGAR

Hello and welcome to Todd’s kitchen. So many times in the past people have asked me where to buy powdered sugar or icing sugar because they simply can not find it in their country So join me as i make my version and the only version of powdered or icing sugar now it’s incredibly simple and easy to make You can use a food processor or a blender its completely up to you but what i highly recommend is that you use a gloss blender or food processor simple reason being if you use a
plastic theres a good chance that it will scratch the inside So into this food processor I’m pouring in our regular everyday plain sugar And we are going to process this until we get a fine powder okay so as you can see it is more like a flour type substance It is nice and fine and thats exactly how you want it Now one final step and this is what you need to make it form a nice thick paste that will set on top of the cake for each couple powdered sugar add in two tablespoons of corn starch and its also called cornflower so that’s
going to help thicken up the paste when you make it into a nice icing. So place that on and give it a quick mix around And there we have it and how simple and easy was that. Now all you have to do now is place it into a sealed container and this will last months and months in the pantry. This way you will never run out of icing sugar or powdered sugar. And im sure no matter what cake you put this on it will taste simply delicious Thank you for watching this episode of Todd’s kitchen. A list on ingredients are down below as well as links to my Facebook, Twitter and Google+ pages. Please give this video a thumbs up leave a comment and subscribe and i’ll see you next time for another delicious recipe.

  4. Hi Sir – Madam :
I want help on how to make those edible icing sheets and inks (for photo cakes).
I know they are being sold online, but I want to try making them myself. I'm planning to open a small "photo cake project" in Egypt, where it's almost impossible to find such supplies, plus, it costs alot to import them from the US.

Any ideas would be highly appreciated

  5. Really? People can't find icing sugar in their local store? I live in the UK and there is always plenty of icing sugar to buy.

  6. I've been the recipient of a cookbooki of the Great British Baking Show. Some of the ingredients, like icing sugar, are unfamiliar to me. This was so helpful!

  7. How many mins will it take for the sugar to be powdered? Is it okay for me to mix the granulated sugar and corn starch together?

  8. Thanks! Wish I had watched this before making the icing I just made… it's a bit gritty and I'm having trouble getting a good frosting consistency because I didn't add the cornstarch! I'll add it now, and see if it helps. If not, I'm trying some melted marshmallow, cause why not?! Thanks! 🙂
