Decorating Tools Haul from Bake et Al Cainta Branch Part 2

This is the five-set brush. It has the detail
brush, with gauge 1. it also has the flat brush, the angled brush, a dotting tool, and
also a fan brush. Quite complete for Php 150.00. If you see this in person, you wouldn’t think
that it’s sold for Php 150.00, cause it looks like its well-made. It’s a really good set,
I got my students the same set. I do recommend this, I like the flat brush, the angled brush,
dotting tool, and the detailing brush, (basically everything except the fan brush)
The fan brush you can do without, A better fan brush would be the fan brushes for acrylic
and watercolors, synthetic brushes, firmer, with more body. A little stiffer than the
one in this set. Next thing I got is… this is kinda dandy,
I am really excited to use this, its a square set and it is reversible. One side is plain
square cutter, straight edges, and the other side is scalloped. it is only Php 90.00 (such
a steal!!!!) and it comes with its own container, which
houses 5 cutters of different sizes. Next one I got is a Php 100.00 Lace Violet
Sil (silicone?) Php 100.00 for this. Very cheap.
This one I am really excited to use too. This is the brooch set, for Php 300.00. Very nice,
and what I like about this one is that it is not that flimsy. There was this other silicone
mold, a gem silicone mold that doesn’t work. !!!WORST MOLD EVER!!!!
IT WAS UNUSABLE. The mold was too soft, and too flimsy that anything you try to mold in
it doesn’t come out the same shape nor did it impress well. The grooves of the mold wasn’t
deep enough to make a good impression. That gem mold was such a throw-away!!! 🙁
I was so disappointed when I got it in the mail. It wasn’t cheap either. 380 – 400 Php
for something that doesn’t work. Not mentioning the store’s name, cos I did
get a few items that were quite nice. But that one was HORRIBLE!!!
Next thing we got is a leaf veiner, this one is Php 140.00
V leaf 10. I’d recommend this, if you are going to get the leaf veiners, I think they
have a lot of leaf veiners there but this one is the best one in my opinion, small but
had the deepest markings resulting to the best impression on your sugarpaste.
For cake painting I will always recommend powdered food colors. I have the Aubergine
slash brown. Deep brown. and Black. Php 220 per pot.
I only use powder for cake painting. I also got two sets of dotting tools, great
for detailing! for faces, objects, any modeling you got going
on. This is a great set! Made out of steel and hard plastic! No need to worry about snapping
it into two *like me! hahaha I always make sure that the items I get are
sturdy enough to stand a lot of abuse, aside from everyday cake orders I also let my students
use the same sets, hence we need to make sure the tools we get for the classes are DURABLE.
Php 160.00 for 14 piece modeling tool. Great for Sculpting and flower-making! Basically
anything that needs modeling or sculpting. I used to have the original set from Gem or
PME, but my mother decided to keep them stored to be taken out for use during demos. (hoarding
alert) This doesn’t break easily unlike the other
one that we initially bought for our students. It
has two parts, yellow and white, and separate
easily. snaps into two, (and this other time, i broke it into 3) 🙁
There are two sets of the pink modeling tools, the other set contains 16 or 18 pcs, and this
one contains 14, get this one, cos its bigger and it looks like its more solid.
(rummaging) Two smoothers, for Php 80.00 each, you need
a pair, so total of Php 160.00 Celboard from the Uk, board has grooves where
you can roll your sugarpaste on, and the grooves will let you insert wires for individual petals
for flower-making or leaves. purpose of the holes, almost the same, you need extra space
and body for the blossoms. Quite pricey for something very small, but it will last you
a lifetime (just dont cut your flowers on it or use your xacto knife, you dont want
your celboard to be all scratched and marked.) This particular celboard is almost unbreakable.
We have stocks that we use on a daily basis that are almost as old as I am. Looks brand
new still. Wires, gauges 22 and 18. 22 is for Php 145.00
and gauge 18 is Php 175.00. If you are buying in bulk, go to Divisoria.
if you are buying just a couple of bags, you can get them at your local craft store even
if the mark up is high compared to getting them in Divisoria.
Rolling pin – 9″ for Php 150.00, its got the rubber guide to control thickness.
Round brush Php 80.00, Craft knife Php 140.00. I usually go with X-Acto Knife, sold all over
thru National Bookstore, or you can try your local art stores.
Quick tip on getting brushes, get the ones for acrylic and watercolor. They’re a lot
softer and easier to control than oil brushes. Brushes for oil paintings are stiffer and
coarser and will definitely leave marks, and will scratch your fondant.
If you have budget, and or particular with your brushes, feel free to get the horse hair
or the sable brushes, they’re usually Php 600 up per brush.
I also got the Jet Black Dual Tip Edible Ink Pen.
Php 220 for the pen, One end is a pen type, the other is a marker type. Fine end is 0.5
mm, the marker end is 2.5 mm. For finer detailing you can use the .5 mm, like for eyes or lips.
(in a different color of course, not black) Got a few pots of edible paint, powdered paint,
its Php 220 each, Blossom Tint powder, no luster, plain matte finish. Sugar Flair is
the brand, and the other brand is Rainbow Dust, also in matte: Yellow (lemon tart) and
Red (cherry pie) I got the primary colors for a reason. You
can make any color almost with the three primary colors.
PLEASE READ ABOUT YOUR COLORWHEEL 🙂 or research on Color Theory.
Primary Colors: RBY and Primary Neutrals: Black White Brown
Primary neutrals – I just coined that HAHA Those are all the colors you need for cake painting!
