Hello My Name is A-Ri As you all already know, The Avengers is showing in the theatres. Luckily, I was about to make icing cookies. What a great timing! So today we shall make Avengers cookies. Mix room temperature butter and one egg yolk. Also add in sugar powder with a pinch of salt as well as vanilla extract. Now add sifted flower and almond powder. Mix is lightly as if you were cutting it with the spatula. You don’t have to mix it too much. Mix it lightly only to the point where you don’t see any more white powder floating around. Add the mix into a ziplock bag or similar, then knead it a bit more. Flatten it out and place it in the fridge for a half hour. (A-ri’s tip: If you let the dough cool down in the fridge, not only does it become easier to cut into shapes, but it will also taste better!) Knead out the dough once more after it was cooled, then flatten it out to a thickness of about 5mm, place it on a pan, then cut out the cookie shapes. Now it’s time to bake them. The cookies have been baked and it’s now time to cool them down. One thing to note about the cookies – since the icing is very sweet, the cookies don’t have to be too sweet. If both are too sweet, well, it’s just too sweet! A good thickness for the cookies is 4 to 5 mm thick. That way it will be thick enough to go well with the icing. Now that the cookies are done, it’s time to make the icing! Before we make the icing, first sift the sugar powder. Add egg whites. If you start mixing it with an electric mixer, all the powder will fly all over the place, so it’s probably a good idea to start mixing it manually first, then finishing it off with an electric one. When you look at it, you’ll see it shine and have some volume to it. Add a few drops of lemon juice. (A-ri’s tip: don’t let the icing sit in open air for too long as it will harden. So it’s a good idea to cover with saran wrap and a wet cloth.) Remember I said we’re gonna make Avengers cookies? So here they are. Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk, and Thor. Usually when people make these, they use an edible pen. Unfortunately they aren’t easy to get in Korea, and also since the drawings are very delicate, it won’t be that easy with an edible pen. So I’ve came up with a new way! Add a small amount of icing into a tiny bowl and add food coloring. This icing is going to be used for outlining the shapes. When you drip it into the bowl, it should take about 8 to 10 seconds to flatten out. Add the icing into a piping bag or decorating bag and trace the black lines on the drawings. Before the icing hardens, flip it over onto the cookie it press it. Now you have a rough outline of the shape on the cookie. Once the outline has been formed, fill in the shapes. For the insides, the icing should take about 5 to 8 seconds to flatten. The shapes don’t have to be perfect, since we’re going to cover the outlines. All done! My favorite Avenger is Iron Man! Iron Man seems to be the most popular Avenger in Korea. Since we don’t readily have edible pens, you should try my way as well! Once again, thank you all for the thumbs up and subscribing! See you next time! Bye!!
